Commissioned by Maidstone Arts this film promotes the Elemental art project and highlights the relationship of under used public space with the commercial centre of Maidstone. The film was used as a promotional presentation tool to secure future funding and heighten public awareness.
The Elemental – Walk of Art project will bring permanent and temporary site specific, contemporary public artworks to twelve sites along an 8 kilometre area of Maidstone’s riverside between Fant and Allington Lock, subject to approval. Elemental will explore how the elements and forces of nature can be used to document a coherent journey of the river and its surrounding environment. The project will seek to benefit present and future generations of our community to create a harmonious ecological and social balance along the riverside, seeking innovative solutions for utilising the best sustainable options, recycled materials and renewable resources to reduce the ecological footprint of the project. Elemental will maximise the opportunities for public art, which integrate the community and restore pride in public areas.
