In the run up to the 2012 Olympics there is hot competition to become an international training camp for visiting teams. I was commissioned to produce a promotional film for the recently refurbished Medway Park to help attract visiting Olympic teams to Medway and to promote the facilities to the wider local community.

Introduced by former Olympic Champion and World Record holder Steve Backley, the film highlights the new facilities at Medway Park and includes footage of sporting events held at the Park including the Modern Pentathlon World Cup, as well as promoting Medway’s cultural and historical background. The film was first screened at the Medway Sports Awards 2010.

Earlier this month we filmed hundreds of school children singing a selection of National Anthems for the award ceremonies at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup being staged at Medway Park, 8-11 April 2010. The multi-camera shoot (including crane) was filmed over 3 days at the Brook Theatre. Some twenty primary and junior schools took part in the filming. The children performed really well singing in Chinese, Hungarian and Polish as well as a selection of other languages . The films can be seen during the MPWC and on screens around Medway Park.

I was invited to be on the judging panel earlier in the year and was then commissioned to produce motion graphics, projected slideshows and winner’s ‘reveal’ films.

The lifetime contribution award went to Zandra Rhodes who was unable to attend the event due to a family engagement in the USA, so I visited her in her London studio and filmed a short acceptance speech.

Other winners on the night included some projects that I have been involved in and documented – and no, I wasn’t on the judging panel for these categories

Reijo Kela’s Hei People won the visual arts category – I’m currently editing a short documentary of the project and Reijo has just had a beautiful book published which also features photographs that I shot.

ARCH – ARt in CHurches. I designed the website and produced virtual tours and printed brochures for this project.

HeART Medway won a commendation. I designed their website and was commissioned as an artist to design and implement [ FRAMEDWAY ], a large scale photo mosaic public art project that aims to promote heritage and art in Medway.

Congratulations also go to some people I know and have worked with including Wendy Daws and Mark Barnes, Paula Groves, Steve Rowland and Bianca Donnelly from Made in Medway (a book and website which I feature in), Simon Williams and Zara Carpenter.
