The Liberty Kent Public Art Award 2011 was announced this week. I was commissioned to produce motion graphics and idents for the award ceremony.

The award was presented by Wayne Hemingway of Hemingway Design. This year’s winner was Ghost by Adam Chodzko. The work was commissioned by Whitstable Biennale 2010 and project managed by Art at the Centre Swale. Runners up were Iconic Site by Sans Facon and Out Of Tune By AK Dolven.

I was also involved in Hei People, the winning project in 2009 by Reijo Kela, documenting the project in video and stills. You can watch some of the film and see images from that project in the Liberty past awards section.

I designed a series of motion graphics films for the Medway Sports Awards, including nominees animated slideshows, category splashes and reveal films. I also filmed this years event which was held at the St. Georges Centre. The footage will be cut into a promotional film at a later date. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.

Liberty Property Trust and Kent County Council commissioned me to produce a series of films and motion graphics for the 2009 Rouse Kent Public Art Award. Presented by Janet Street Porter this year’s winner was Hei People, a series of three site specific temporary scarecrowesque installations by Reijo Kela.

I had to declare an interest when the Hei People were shortlisted as I produced the films and photography for the project. I am currently cutting a documentary of the Hei People which I aim to finish later this year. The organisers managed to keep the winning project under wraps until the formal announcement.

Runner Up was awarded to Clio Barnard’s Plotlands, a film projection and book. Breaking Boundaries, a ‘shared space’ highway scheme in Ashford and ] And Here, a film celebrating the built environment of North Kent were highly commended.
