Sports Venue Promotional Film Released

In the run up to the 2012 Olympics there is hot competition to become an international training camp for visiting teams. I was commissioned to produce a promotional film for the recently refurbished Medway Park to help attract visiting Olympic teams to Medway and to promote the facilities to the wider local community.

Introduced by former Olympic Champion and World Record holder Steve Backley, the film highlights the new facilities at Medway Park and includes footage of sporting events held at the Park including the Modern Pentathlon World Cup, as well as promoting Medway’s cultural and historical background. The film was first screened at the Medway Sports Awards 2010.

Filming Accentuate Launch Event

The Accentuate programme aims to get disabled people the recognition they deserve. I was commissioned to film the launch event at the Brighton Dome on the International Day of Disabled People, and 1,000 days before the start of the 2012 Paralympic Games – Accentuate has given itself those 1,000 days to make a cultural shift in people’s views. Award-winning actor Mat Fraser joined critically acclaimed BBC TV producer Ewan Marshall and Paralympic Games gold medallist Danny Crates on a panel discussion about the projects aims.

Accentuate is an ambitious transformational programme of 15 projects. The South East was the birthplace of the Paralympic Games and Accentuate will now carry the baton to continue the journey ensuring disabled people have the potential to be the leaders of tomorrow, in whatever field they choose.

Filming Dame Kelly Holmes for Medway Sports Awards

Dame Kelly Holmes, double gold Olympic medalist visited Medway yesterday and I was called in to film and edit a video message for the Medway Sports Awards being held that evening. With a two hour turn around it was a tight deadline but I delivered the film before returning to film Kelly later that day at a training session for the children at Featherby Junior School.

Kelly added her support to Medway’s 2012 campaign: “It’s great to see the support that Medway are giving to sport and the facilities in this area, and with the new development of Medway Park I’m sure it’s going to be a huge benefit to the community and anybody involved with sport.”

Welcome to Medway Public Screening

My latest film Welcome To Medway had its first public screening during Medway’s launch of the Cultural Olympiad. It was projected 40 foot high onto the side of Rochester Castle. The celebrations also included a Doodle Den workshop run by Wendy Daws and Päivi Seppälä as part of [FRAMEDWAY], my public art project.

Commissioned by Medway 2012 Team the film will be used to promote Medway nationally and internationally as both a first-class tourist destination and a sporting centre of excellence.

Spaghetti Weston deliver 1hrs Olympic programming to Kent TV

This week I delivered 9 films to Kent TV who commissioned me to produce an hours content for their updated online TV Channel. The films focus on some of Kent’s elite athletes and their preparations and plans for the 2012 Olympics, as well as the coaches and volunteers that support them.

Interviews with Chris Hespe, Head of Sport, Leisure & Olympics at KCC and Stephanie Holt, KCC’s Manager for the 2012 Games outlined how Kent is preparing for the games.
